Community Eye Health Program

Launched in 2014, Community Eye Health Program (CEHP) provides comprehensive out-patient services to a population of around 10 lacs in 7 nearby districts (Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Auraiya, Unnao, Fatehpur, Kannauj, and Etawah) through 8 satellite centers. The program aims to make the villages avoidable blindness free and has declared 24 villages avoidable blindness free till date.The project is supported by Operation Eyesight Universal (OEU)Canada, LV Prasad Eye Institute, SEVA Foundation, and Rotary India and Rotary International.

Rural Eye Relief camp

Rural Eye Relief camp is hospital’s one of the oldest and largest projects catering to the rural population of Kanpur and nearby districts. The community outreach team screens the rural population for cataracts and refractive errors and identified cataract cases are referred to JL Rohatgi Hospital for eye surgery. With government’s support and generous donations from various philanthropic organizations, the project has conducted around 3 lacs+ eye surgeries through 4,000+ eye relief camps since 1946.

Community based Health check-up

Community based Health check-up camps are awareness cum screening camps held to increase community awareness and screen for common non-communicable diseases including cataracts, glaucoma, refractive errors, diabetic retinopathy, diabetes, hypertension, orthopedics, ENT, deafness, and dental disorders free of cost. The initiative has been supported by leading CSRs of GAIL India, CUGL, GAIL Gas, etc. in collaboration with National Youth Foundation, Lucknow.

Eicher Driver Care Program

The hospital in collaboration with Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital, New Delhi launched Eicher eye and ear screening mobile vans to provide advanced and affordable care to truck drivers. Clear vision and good hearing abilities are vital to preventing road traffic accidents. Major transport hubs in Kanpur region are being approached through satellite centers, outreach camps, and a mobile ophthalmic van model (Eicher eye and ear screening mobile van) where truck drivers are being screened, diagnosed, provided spectacles on the spot, and referred for treatment to the hospital.
